Lyle Franklin Coit, Jr. passed away on November 4, 2005 at his home in Edmond, OK. He was born March 10, 1927 at Custer City, OK. He attended school at Independence in Custer County. He attended Colorado State University and graduated from OSU. Lyle was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in San Diego aboard the U.S.S. Bushnell. A Mason for 45 years, Lyle joined the Masonic Lodge in Thomas, OK in 1960. He affiliated with the Edmond Masonic Lodge in 1999. He was active in the local Masonic projects, serving as Director of the Edmond Prevent Blindness Program. He became active in the Scottish Rite, being awarded a Commendation Medal in 2004 and was awarded the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH) in October 2005. Other Masonic memberships included York Rite, OKC India Shrine, Arab Patrol and Legion of Honor. Lyle began work in 1961 for DHS as a Farm Supervisor for the State Schools, then later became Administrator of Oklahoma Teaching Hospitals until retiring in 1986. His hobbies included farming, fishing and gardening. Lyle is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy Coit of the home, children, Roger and Lynne Coit of Custer City, Randy and Kathy Coit of Edmond, Renee and Robert Beene of Edmond, Elaine and Tim Haack of Yukon, Cheryl and Kevin Brooks of Blanchard, his mother, Erma Coit-Smith of Clinton, OK, brother, Darrell Coit of Custer City, OK, sister, Naomi Davenport of Denton, TX, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Franklin Coit, Sr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Edmond, 305 East Hurd, 341-0107. A Scottish Rite Rose Croix Service will be performed after the traditional service. Burial will follow at Thomas, OK Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Charity Fund of Masonic Lodge No. 37
