JD 1971, JW 1972, SW 1973, WM 1974 Brothers the Grim Reaper has struck Edmond Lodge #37 last night when our beloved Wor. Robert Gene Fields passed in his sleep. Wor. Brother Bob was 76 years four months and 28 days of age. Wor. Bob was born 08/13/1929, Initiated 03/07/1951, passed 04/23/1951, and raised 06/08/1951. On January 8 Wor. Brother Bob would have been a master mason for 55 years 7 months. Calendar year 1974 had Wor. Brother Bob serving Edmond #37 as Worshipful Master. For many years Wor. Brother Bob continued to serve the lodge by his continued presence and as chairman of the Sick & Shut in Committee Robert 'Bob' Gene Fields, 76, passed away at home on Monday, January 02, 2006. He was born Aug. 13th 1929 in Pottawatomie Co., Wanette, OK to Walter and Alta Fields. He graduated from Prague High School and East Central University. He married Martha Estes on June 5, 1949. They lived in Ada for 14 years while Bob began his career at Thompson Book Store. In 1962, the family moved to Edmond, and bob went to work for the University of Central Oklahoma as the Director of Auxiliary Enterprises, where he remained until his 1991 retirement. Bob was a member of First Christian church of Edmond, where he served as an elder. He was a past president of the Edmond Lion's Club, and was Past Worshipful Master of the Edmond Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Mason from the Valley of Guthrie Scottish Rite, Companion of the York Rite, Past Worthy Parton of Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Amaranth, and the royal Order of Scotland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alta and one brother, Bill Fields. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha, and their children, Brother Robert W. Fields (Fields Jewelry Edmond) and his wife Carole, and Carol Hawkins and her husband, Carl; four grandsons, Brother Brian Fields (Fields Jewelry Edmond) and wife Shannon, Mark Fields, Brad Hawkins, and Kyle Hawkins, and 2 great granddaughters, Emily and Sara Fields all of Edmond. He also leaves behind a sister, Kathryn Bell and her husband Ray of Arizona, and a brother, Charles W. Fields and his wife Ruth of Altus. Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, Jan. 5th at First Christian Church of Edmond with interment following at Gracelawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, make donations to Masonic Charity Foundation or First Christian Church Building fund.
