H. Parker 'Whitey' Sneed For Parker, death was door into heaven. His angel escorted him through that door on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. Born in Vernon, TX on August 30, 1924 to Harry and Lena Sneed, he was raised on a farm near Harrold, TX where he graduated from high school in 1941. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and was stationed near Salt Lake City, UT. When WWII was declared he joined the U.S. Navy there and was assigned to the Norman Naval Base in Okla. City where he was trained as an aviation sheet metal smith. During his 6 months there he met and courted Francis Claribel Wilson, they were married in California on August 4, 1943 before he was shipped out to the South Pacific. After 2 years, at the close of the war, he returned to Edmond where he and Francis raised 4 children, Dorothe Mae, Lila Fae, Harold Parker and Hilliard Perry. Parker began his apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers' Local Union #124 in 1944. He has worked in this local and remained a member 64 years. He served as Business Agent for 24 years. He was the first president of the Retirees' Club. Parker was a servant at heart, serving on numerous labor boards and civic organizations. Especially dear to him were United Way, United Cerebral Palsy, Private Industry Council, AFL-CIO, Oklahoma Democratic Party and Edmond Masonic Lodge #37 were he served as past Master. For many years he was superintendent of the junior department at the First Baptist Church in Edmond where he served as a deacon. Parker is preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings, and his uncles and aunts. He is survived by his wife, Francis, his 4 children and their spouses, brother Harry, 6 grandchildren and their spouses, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Waterloo Road Baptist Church, 3100 E. Waterloo Rd., Edmond. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond. The family wishes to thank all the people who have supported Parker (Whitey) and us. It has been a long good-bye.
