History
of Edmond of Edmond #37 AF & AM
The first recorded organizational Masonic history in Oklahoma was
prior to statehood while known as Indian Territory on November 7, 1848
"Charter
granted to Cherokee Lodge, U.D. at Tahlequah, Cherokee Nation. The
Grand Lodge of Indian
Territory was established in October 1874. The Grand Lodge of Oklahoma Territory was
established in
November 10, 1892. The Grand Lodge of the State of Oklahoma was formed
on
February 10, 1909 and
the Grand Lodges of Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory ceased to exist. Oklahoma
became a state in 1907.
Edmond Lodge #37 AF&AM charter was granted (U.D.) from the Grand Lodge of Indian
Territory on April 19, 1890. Upon the formation of
Grand Lodge of Oklahoma Territory
Edmond Lodge #4 charter was granted. In 1909 when the Grand Lodge of the State of Oklahoma
was formed Edmond #37 was chartered using our original number assigned by Grand Lodge of
Indian Territory.
The first location of Edmond Lodge #37 AF&AM was on the second
story of Central Hall West of Broadway on the North side of First Street. On October 16,
1903 the upper story of the Howard Drug Store at
105 South Broadway was purchased and
served as lodge until November 7, 1964 when the first tiled meeting was held in our current
location at 1026 North Boulevard location.
