The seal for Edmond Lodge was constructed using pieces from the great seal from each of the three Grand Lodges granting us a charter during our history.  Three arrows, long bow and peace pipe right of the S&C looks very close to Seal of the Choctaw Indian Nation and was lifted from the Grand Lodge Seal from Oklahoma Indian Territory.  The hand and torch was borrowed from the Grand Lodge Seal of Oklahoma Territory.  The S&C from the seal of the Grand Lodge of

Great State of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma's recorded history began in 1541 when Spanish explorer Coronado ventured through the area on his quest for the "Lost city of Gold."  The area that would eventually become known as Oklahoma was part of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase.  The United States paid France $15 million for the Louisiana Territory - Land that would later become thirteen states.  The purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States. More Oklahoma Masonic History .

The United States government opened up the western part of Indian Territory to settlers by holding six land runs between 1889 and 1895.  Native Americans from more that 67 tribes call Oklahoma their home, 37 Federally Recognized.  The name Oklahoma literally means "red people."  It was taken from two Choctaw words "okla" ("people") and "humma" (red").
